Patient Transport Cars

Providing vehicles to transport patients in need from the charitable housing to King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh and back.

Target group:

Inpatients and outpatients at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (Riyadh) who need transport between King Fahad National Centre for Children's Cancer and the hospital, to and from the charitable housing the hospital provides for patients.

Location:

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh.

Financial scope:

SAR 450,000.

Project rationale:

  • Enabling patients who have no means of transport to attend their appointments and complete their course of treatment properly, which may require frequent visits to the hospital.
  • More than (70%) of visitors to King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh come from outside the city, and many are in very difficult financial circumstances. The hospital therefore provides free charitable housing for patients and their companions (rented furnished apartments), and the hospital's patient transport vehicles carry the patient and companion from the housing to the clinic and back.

Facts and figures:

  • 5 vehicles were provided to transport patients.
  • Each vehicle makes an average of 18 trips a day — around 90 trips a day across the five vehicles.
  • 1,980 trips are provided each month.
  • 23,760 trips are provided each year.
