Charitable Housing Project

Providing decent, suitable accommodation next to King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre for patients travelling from outside Riyadh, Jeddah or Madinah whose treatment requires a long stay.

Target group:

Patients with life-threatening illnesses in particular, and patients in general together with their companions, receiving treatment at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.

Location:

• King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (Riyadh – Jeddah – Madinah).

Financial scope:

SAR 1,378,000

Project rationale:

• Easing the hardship for a large share of patients (around 60%) and their families who live outside Riyadh, Jeddah or Madinah.
• Increasing the number of patients treated by moving the waiting list along faster and shortening it, which creates more opportunities for treatment and early intervention — in the hope of improving treatment outcomes and the patient experience during treatment and follow-up.
• Securing accommodation close to the hospital in an environment suited to the health of patients and their families.
• Improving the quality of care delivered to the patient and their treatment journey inside the hospital and during the follow-up period (which may last more than a week).

Facts and figures:

  • An average of (6) patients a day use the charitable housing, around (2,200) patients a year.
  • Cost per person: SAR 600 a day (accommodation plus three main meals), provided for the patient and (1 or 2) companions.
