Providing a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner

Providing an MRI scanner at King Fahad National Centre for Children's Cancer, since the Centre has none — every child with a tumour is currently transferred to King Faisal Specialist Hospital for an MRI scan.

Project objective:

Easing the treatment journey for children with tumours, so that all their medical care is delivered within the Centre without the need to transfer them to the hospital.

Target group:

All child patients, both outpatients and inpatients, at the Centre whose condition requires an MRI scan.

Project rationale:

The absence of MRI services at the Centre results in:

  • Hardship for children with tumours at the Centre.
  • Delays in delivering treatment to children with tumours at the Centre.

Project outputs:

  • Providing an MRI scanner within the Centre.
  • Improving the patient's treatment experience. Reducing waiting times for MRI appointments.
  • Easing the burden on the hospital, as patients no longer travel there from the Centre.
