Dedicated Emergency Care Area for the Organ Transplant Center of Excellence

The project aims to convert unused space on the ground floor of the King Abdullah Building for Tumours and Liver Diseases — already fitted with core facilities comprising eight beds/trolleys, a nursing station, a services room and a medicines room — into a dedicated unit for acute and emergency cases among organ transplant patients.

The project aims to improve the quality of care for patients who have undergone organ transplantation and give them rapid access to urgent care services, which in turn helps reduce waiting times in the general emergency departments and the number of patients attending them.

According to an assessment by the hospital's projects and facilities department, the area's infrastructure is all but complete and needs only the installation of oxygen and suction lines for the unit to be ready to operate.
