“Testing Without a Prick” Eases the Burden on Patients With Diabetes

In pursuit of its aim of easing the hardship of patients in need, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital Charity Foundation “Wareef Charity” launched the “Testing Without a Prick” project, which distributes free devices using new technology to measure blood sugar without a needle prick, by passing the reader over a sensor fitted to the patient's arm. The device particularly serves children, given how often they need to check their blood sugar without discomfort.

Wareef Charity worked with the paediatrics department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital to distribute the blood sugar monitors, 77 of which were funded by a benefactor. The distribution was attended by H.E. Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Al-Fayyadh, Executive General Supervisor of King Faisal Specialist Hospital; Eng. Maher bin Abdullah Al-Sulaimi, Chief Executive of Wareef Charity Foundation; and Dr. Bassam bin Abbas, the consultant overseeing the patients.

Wareef Charity also aims to reach 170 devices for children with diabetes under the Testing Without a Prick project for 2019.

Through its work, Wareef Charity seeks to deliver its objectives: supporting the provision of specialist medical care, providing aid to patients in need, supporting scientific and applied research in the medical and health fields, supporting the training of specialist Saudi medical talent, supporting cultural and scientific activities that help raise health awareness, and supporting disease prevention programmes.
